Meet the experienced and friendly doctors and staff who make Jonesborough Eye Clinic the leading provider of vision care products and services in Jonesborough.


Dr. Kristen Pumphrey

Dr. Pumphrey is a native of Kingsport, Tennessee and she and her family now reside in Johnson City, Tennessee.

Dr. Pumphrey received her optometry degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. While there, she received an award for outstanding co-management clinical skills and graduated with Honors.

Following her optometry school education, Dr. Pumphrey completed a residency in Cornea and Contact Lens and NSU Oklahoma College of Optometry, where she specialized in laser surgery, pediatrics, and difficult soft and rigid contact lens fitting.Her contact lens training includes correction for many difficult corneal diseases such as keratoconus and post-surgical contact lens fitting.

Dr. Pumphrey is a board certified Therapeutic Optometrist and is proficient in the treatment and management of glaucoma and ocular disease. Dr. Pumphrey is an active member in the American Optometric Association, the Tennessee Optometric Association, the Northeast Tennessee Optometric Society, and the American Academy of Optometry.

When Dr. Pumphrey isn’t checking eyes, she loves spending time with her husband Zach and three children, Addison, Owen, and Micah.


Dr. Carissa Chambers

Dr. Chambers has been with The Jonesborough Eye Clinic since 2016. As a native of Huntsville, TN, she knew she wanted to stay in East Tennessee and moved to this area in 2015 after finishing optometry school.

Dr. Chambers received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee – Knoxville in Nutrition and completion of the Chancellor’s Honors Program. Dr. Chambers then completed her optometry education at the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. While there, she received an award for ocular disease management and graduated with Honors.

Following completion of her optometry degree, Dr. Chambers moved to the Johnson City area and completed a residency in Primary Eye Care/Ocular Disease at the Mountain Home VA. She also gained experience performing low vision exams for the veterans. Following residency, Dr. Chambers received certification of Advanced Competencies in Medical Optometry through the National Board of Examiners in Optometry.

Dr. Chambers is a board certified Therapeutic Optometrist and enjoys seeing a variety of patients from children to the elderly. She is the current president of the Northeast Tennessee Optometric Society, and she is a member of the American Optometric Association and Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians.

In her free time, Dr. Chambers enjoys hiking and competing in triathlons & ultramarathons, recently finishing her first full Ironman. She loves to stay involved with the local running community and holds a board position with the State of Franklin Track Club. She is also an active member of the Lions Club International and participates in missions in both East TN and internationally.


Amy

Amy is the Certified Paraoptometric (Technician), and the Patient Care Coordinator at The Jonesborough Eye Clinic, and has been for over 6 years. She is originally from Kansas City, MO (GO CHIEFS!), and has lived in Ohio, and Colorado before moving to Tennessee. Amy was homeschooled and graduated in 2011. She enjoys spending time with her family, church family, and friends. Amy enjoys studying her Bible, singing, purging things (being minimalist!), organizing, party planning, and family movie nights. She also performs with her family’s singing group at local churches and civic events. She was honored to sing the National Anthem for Northeast Tennessee Honor Flights Association. Amy also believes in supporting our troops and honoring our veterans.


Meagan

Meagan is the Optician at the Jonesborough Eye Clinic. With her sweet sense of style, and her keen eye for fashionable frames, she is the girl to look for when purchasing new glasses! Meagan has lived in Jonesborough for most of her life, and graduated from Davy Crockett High School in 2006. She enjoys spending her free time outdoors, getting involved with various projects in her local community, and trying to one day cross paths with Reba McEntire.


 

Kristina

Kristina is the Billing Coordinator at the Jonesborough Eye Clinic. She graduated from ETSU with her bachelor’s degree in 2013. She is originally from Grainger County, TN and now lives in Jonesborough with her husband and two children. Kristina enjoys traveling, camping, outdoor activities, and spending time with friends and family .

 

 


Taylor

Taylor is the Receptionist and Floater at the Jonesborough Eye Clinic. You may find Taylor greeting you as you walk in, assisting with pretest or helping you with glasses as she has many talents! Taylor graduated from David Crockett High School in 2015. In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities, working on her family’s farm, riding her horse and caring for her all of her farm animals.
