Dr. Kristen Pumphrey

Dr. Pumphrey is a native of Kingsport, Tennessee and she and her family now reside in Johnson City, Tennessee.

Dr. Pumphrey received her optometry degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. While there, she received an award for outstanding co-management clinical skills and graduated with Honors.

Following her optometry school education, Dr. Pumphrey completed a residency in Cornea and Contact Lens and NSU Oklahoma College of Optometry, where she specialized in laser surgery, pediatrics, and difficult soft and rigid contact lens fitting.Her contact lens training includes correction for many difficult corneal diseases such as keratoconus and post-surgical contact lens fitting.

Dr. Pumphrey is a board certified Therapeutic Optometrist and is proficient in the treatment and management of glaucoma and ocular disease. Dr. Pumphrey is an active member in the American Optometric Association, the Tennessee Optometric Association, the Northeast Tennessee Optometric Society, and the American Academy of Optometry.


Dr. Carissa Chambers

Dr. Chambers grew up in Huntsville, TN and moved to the Johnson City area in 2015.

Dr. Chambers received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee – Knoxville in Nutrition and completion of the Chancellor’s Honors Program. Dr. Chambers then completed her optometry education at the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. While there, she received an award for ocular disease management and graduated with Honors.

Following completion of her optometry degree, Dr. Chambers moved to the Johnson City area and completed a residency in Primary Eye Care/Ocular Disease at the Mountain Home VA. She also gained experience performing low vision exams for the veterans. Following residency, Dr. Chambers received certification of Advanced Competencies in Medical Optometry through the National Board of Examiners in Optometry.

Dr. Chambers is a board certified Therapeutic Optometrist and enjoys seeing a variety of patients from children to the elderly. She is the current president of the Northeast Tennessee Optometric Society, and she is a member of the American Optometric Association and Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians.

In her free time, Dr. Chambers enjoys hiking and competing in triathlons & ultramarathons. She is an active member of the Lions Club International and participates in missions in both East TN and internationally.


Amber has been with JEC for seven years, and has been the Office Manager at JEC since 2013.  Amber is originally from Johnson City, and graduated from ETSU in 2009.  Amber loves spending time with her family, learning new things, reading, and journaling.




Lisa is our resident Optician with over 11 years of experience in the Optometry field. Lisa is from Jonesborough and a graduate of David Crockett High School. Lisa is happily married with two children. She enjoys exercising, arts and crafts, and landscaping.


Amy is the Certified Paraoptometric at Jonesborough Eye Clinic, and has been for over 5 years. She is originally from Kansas City, MO, and has lived in Ohio, and Colorado before moving to Tennessee. Amy was homeschooled and graduated in 2011. She enjoys spending time with her family, church family, friends, and loves her garden, and chickens. Amy also performs with her family singing group at local churches and civic events, and she was honored to sing the National Anthem for Northeast Tennessee Honor Flights Association. Amy believes in supporting our troops and honoring our veterans.



Meagan is the Receptionist at the Jonesborough Eye Clinic. Meagan has lived in Jonesborough for most of her life, and graduated from Davy Crockett High School in 2006. She enjoys outdoor activities, spending time with her cat (Larry), crafting, and repurposing furniture.
